Step 1

Layout the mounting hardware you will need and find the pieces like on the list below. These steps are for a push to close install on a round post.

Mounting hardware needed:

  • Universal Actuator Bracket.
  • Actuator Bracket.
  • Round Post Flush Mount Bracket.
  • Gate Support Bracket.
  • Gate Bracket.
  • Bronze Bushing
  • Manual Release Pin
  • Manual Release Clip
  • Nylon Washers
  • Two 3/8” x 2 1/2” Shoulder Bolts
  • Two 3/8” USS Flat Washers
  • Two 3/8 Serrated Hex Nuts.

Important: The Sentry bolt on brackets are provided and are acceptable but may require year service to keep tight. They must be very securely attached with the supplied nuts, washers and bolt in the kit for best results, don't use lag bolts to install this gate opener. Loose or unstable actuator arm mounting hardware will result in improper operation or damage.

Note: The sentry actuator bracket has a 3/8” pre-drilled hole that the actuator arm will mount to. This is the pivot point for the sentry actuator arm. The universal actuator bracket should be aligned as level as you can make with a horizontal gate section.

Step 2

Find the best way to mount the universal bracket to your gate post. If the ways in the video or below don't work then you will need to look at you fence or gate is the problem. Take you time with finding the best position to install this bracket because this bracket is your base and is very important. Make sure to play with all the positions before you start drilling. The best way to mount the bracket is north and south is stronger and looks more professional.

Step 3

This step will need you to line up the bracket at 5" & 8"

No matter which way you decide to install the actuator bracket and universal actuator bracket the pivot point below must be located in approximately this position for a pull to open installation. Must be mounted 5 inches for the center of the gate hinge & 8 inches away from the gate hinge for a push to close or a pull to open setup. Use the Picture below as a guide.

Take you time & mark your drill spots, then double check them one list time. This may take to people one to level and the other to mark the spots. Then drill your 2 holes slow and try to stay level.

Next install bolts with the universal bracket and make sure its level, if not the re drill the holes make it level. If its not level you will have unwanted stress on the bolts and actuator arm that could led to damage or premature failure.

After the universal bracket is installed tight, then its time to install the actuator bracket level to the cross post where you will install the gate bracket.

Step 4

The forth step you will need the parts below to complete the installation. Once your level and tight install the actuator arm and swing the gate open to line up the spot for the gate bracket. You may need to install the renforced brackets if your post is weak or old. Just follow the pictures on how to mount the gate bracket with the reinforced bracket.

Tip 5

Once you have the gate bracket screwed down its time to hook up your actuator arm and battery. After you hook up you battery run the gate closed it should stop  about half way. Take a screw driver and adjust the extend limit clock wise two lines on the blue dail. Then open the gate and close it to see how much closer you are. If the gate stops sooner the you need to turn the dial to the other clock wise, till your gate and fence line up even.

After you get it lined up run the gate a couple of times. Next step will be programing and wiring any accessories you have to the control board. Need help with this step visit the sentry programing & wiring diagrams.
